Great character development and descriptive writing style. A very enjoyable and often times gripping read.

The rescues are thrilling; the hero Captain William Trask, tortured by tragedy, is compelling. The heroine Cassandra is spunky, a woman ahead of her time, yet believably a creature of her time. And the chief villain, a scavenger named Eck who deliberately wrecks ships to steal the cargo, is one of the most loathesome literary characters you'll ever encounter, a creation worthy of Dickens.

A wonderfully written historical "Faction" Novel...Fluid and fast-paced, it is a novel that anyone would enjoy reading.

The characters are both real and fictional, twisted and tied together to form a story that is clear and precise, pulling you in and keeping you entertained.

This one grabbed my interest and I'm glad it did.

The novel is a must-read for anyone interested in Long Island or maritime history.
